The Best Room
This is our grandest room with a magnificent bathroom. The ceiling and much of the woodwork has been richly decorated to represent different types of marble, there are various painted cupboards and a fountain alcove. The bathroom has original 19th century handmade tiles and frescos of sea-horses and fish on the ceiling. One of the highlights of this room is the exceptionally well preserved 18th century Portuguese rosewood bed.

Family Suites Ze Carlos & Laura
We have 2 family suites both with a double bedroom and a twin or triple bedroom. Upstairs Suite Ze Carlos has a single bathroom with a bathtub whilst Suite Laura downstairs has 2 shower rooms and sleeps 5 in total, so is suitable for families with 3 children.

We have 2 Superior double bedrooms both with high ceilings, nice views and antique furniture. Quarto Maria Ines has a bathroom with bath tub and a four poster bed. Suite Babela has a separate bedroom and lounge with single sofabed and an ensuite shower room.

Standard Double Rooms
We have 2 standard doubles located on the lower level. Both are comfortable and well appointed with ensuite shower room. Suite das Armas has a separate bedroom and living room with a single sofa bed, direct and step free access to the garden. Quarto Mateus is located just off the old kitchen / breakfast room. It has a single sofabed.

Standard Twin Rooms
We have three twin bedrooms each with ensuite shower room. On the upper floor Quarto dos Pais has high ornate ceilings, nice views and it’s own internal staircase up to the shower room. It has 2 single beds adjacent to each other. On the lower level Suite Joao Vasco has a separate twin bedroom and living room with sofa bed, and step free access to the garden. Quarto Emilia is adjacent to the kitchen / breakfast room, the 2 single beds are some distance apart.

Self Catering Cottages
We have 2 Self catering cottages, both have 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin bedroom) and 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor eating areas and a living room. Casa do Antonio has one bathroom with bath and one shower room. Casa da Catarina has 2 shower rooms. All bedrooms have air conditioning. Breakfast is served in the Old kitchen of main house and is already included in the room rate.

Food & Drink
Breakfast
We usually serve breakfast from 8.00-10.00am in the Old Kitchen on the lower floor. You can enjoy your breakfast in the kitchen or on the shady adjacent terrace. We offer a variety of breakfast options including fresh breads, scones, croissants, cakes, our own honey, home-made jams, seasonal fruits, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, eggs cooked to order, sometimes pancakes and always freshly squeezed Portuguese orange juice, coffees and teas.
For guests requiring an earlier breakfast we can prepare a simple breakfast, please let us know in advance.
Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements before your arrival and we will do our best to accommodate them.
For groups booking the whole house, we will be happy to tailor the breakfast service to your requirements.
Honour Bar and Wine list
We operate a reasonably priced self-service honour bar for guests located in the Old Kitchen. Tea and coffee is available 24 hours a day and is free of charge. Soft drinks, bottled water, beer, snacks, a variety of gins and spirits, mixers, as well as a selection of the best local wines from Setubal and Palmela. We have various of Setubals famous Moscatels to try. Half bottles of wine start at €6 and full bottles €11 up to €30 per bottle. Guests are required to record any drinks or snacks consumed from the bar and pool and settle their bills at check out.
Lunches and Dinners
Our food ethos: We grow as much of our own food as possible and we love to serve it to our guests. Our idea is to offer fresh and seasonal dishes, often based on traditional Portuguese flavours with a twist. Light lunches and four course dinners are available most days. The dinner menu has a daily choice of a meat, fish or vegetarian main course. Our dinner costs from €25-35 per person including tax and is served from 19.00-21.00 in the grand dining room and weather permitting on one of the esplanades. On Cook’s days off we serve more simple hot or cold meals from the Old Kitchen.
For those who wish to eat out there are plenty of restaurants within easy reach of the Quinta and we will be happy to make recommendations and reserve tables.
Services & Facilities
Our Service
We have a small team who are passionate about making your stay as special as we can. Our aim to make you feel welcome, at home and to help you enjoy your time here. We are not an hotel with an army of staff on hand day and night, but we always do our personal best to provide what our guests want. Please let us know in advance if you require something in particular during your stay and we will be happy to arrange it for you.
Gardens and countryside
We have extensive gardens surrounding the house, and over 50 hectares of cork oak forests, fields and unspoilt countryside to enjoy. The gardens are largely laid out on the west side of the house and along with the pool there is the grand staircase with a flower garden, sunbathing terrace with a lawn, an ancient formal garden with an ornamental pond, an aqueduct and flower gardens.
There are plenty of secluded shady spots to read a book, or to have a picnic or to take a nap and plenty of unspoilt countryside to explore on foot or you can hire our bicycles.
The forests are alive with animals and birds including wild boar and eagles circling above.
Spa & Swimming Pool
The pool is around 170m2 in area, and has a large shallow area and a deep end of 200cm. We use salt water electrolysis to clean the water and solar heating to make the pool pleasant to use usually from May until October. There is a large terrace providing plenty of sun and shaded areas with seating and a large sunny lawn.
Behind the pool is our Spa, with a sauna, steam room, massage area and bathroom. Guests may use the sauna and steam room without additional charge.
Due to the location and topography of the pool it is impossible to fence off and make inaccessible to children. Guests with infants or small children who cannot swim should keep this in mind before booking.
Parking
We have a large shady carpark set under some cork oak trees for guest use. It is well illuminated in the evening and has a secure gate. The carpark is a short walk from the main house. There is a temporary parking area next to the house for use when checking in and unloading your luggage.
